Saint Catherine of Siena School…
a rich history more than 57 years strong.

I n May 1957 Fr. Quinn began the project of a new school to be built adjacent to the church for St. Catherine's children who were being bussed to Our Lady of the Lake School in Verona. After a successful fund raising campaign, ground was broken in October 1957 for 12 classrooms, special purpose rooms and an auditorium.

The school opened in September 1958 with 424 pupils in grades one through seven and was staffed by Sisters of St. Dominic of Caldwell and lay teachers. Today the school building is more than just a school, it serves as a parish center.

In 1965 the number of children attending the parish school was 620 and growing each year. To serve the increased needs of the parish, a program to build four additional classrooms, a library, workroom, lavatories and an increased parking area was begun. Funds were raised and the school addition was completed in 1965.

St Catherine of Siena School is a significant part of our parish community today. The school serves children Pre-K 3 and Pre-K 4, Kindergarten, and grades one through eight. Aftercare programs staffed by school personnel are available for our children and their families. A Basketball Camp for children has become a popular summer activity.

The school building houses not only the "daytime" school, but also the Religious Education Program. This program is designed for all the children of our parish to provide religious instruction, and the necessary preparation for the Sacraments of Eucharist and Confirmation. Classes are offered on Sunday or Wednesday (depending on grade level) for ongoing instruction. All students, public school and catholic school students join together in Sacrament preparation as a unified community of faith.
